Date Night!

Last week we had a fun date night making churros, drinking hot chocolate, and delving into famous literary delights from the last few centuries and then trying to create our own!
Here is Chase the chef making the churros.
This was the source of our famous literary delights. Actually my Grandma had a passion for poetry and actually owned this book (an older version-same poems) and my sweet husband made me a gift of this not to long ago. Whenever I see it it reminds me of my Grandma. It has many of my favorites in it.
Churros, hot chocolate, and poetry. Who can go wrong there?!
Chase reading.

Here are our creations (Don't laugh! We only had about 3 minutes to write them- it was meant to be a competition of sorts! And they still need work!)

(Title in Progress)
by Chase

Pillows & cushions lay on the couch,
I sit to relax and begin to slouch.

My mind begins to slow as I no longer think,
And the princess continues her work at the sink.

But thats not the love that we began to sow,
In the days on our knees so long ago.

My mind's now awake since my heart began to stir,
My passive rest is fake, but what's real is her.

Joy
by Joni

Happiness is sometimes fleeting,
But joy is real and non-retreating.
It stays true and firm,
Because its roots are come full term.

Deep in the earth it grabs,
Like our heart strings, never drab.

Joy is feeling each day the sun,
And many more days to come,
To feel true joy, pure and real
Upon our heart and lives to seal.
